Q—How old is Prince Tyron?
This is without a doubt the question I get asked the most. Tyron is twenty-three when he meets Aldara. By the end of book one, she is eighteen and he is twenty-five.
Q—How many more Companion series books do you have planned?
Two more at the moment. Book five in the series will tell Astra’a story (Pandarus’s Companion). I have a Galen love interest in mind, as I’m keen to explore that Kingdom. Book six I’m still deciding.
Q—When is your next book going to be released?
My next release will be A Charioteer’s Promise (Roman Hearts series). I don’t have a firm date yet, but possibly March 2019. Book three will be released shortly after.
Q—How many children do you have?
Feels like twelve, but apparently only three.
Q—Can you recommend some books to read?
I get asked this a lot. It really depends on what genres you like, as I read a mix of stuff. If you’re interested in what I’m reading, then be sure to follow me on Goodreads. I keep my “library” up to date.
Q—Will The Companion series be made into audiobooks too?
Yes! It’s on my to-do list for 2019. I’m going to be quite fussy with the narrator, so it might take me some time to get organised, but they’re coming.
Q—Do you have any new series planned?
I have a paranormal romance standalone planned, and loads of other ideas, but nothing locked in at this stage. A series is a big commitment, so I’ll get through my current list of projects and then see what ideas have persisted during that time.
P.S. Every sensible part of me is saying ‘do not write a paranormal romance’, but there is a story sitting in my head that will not go away, so the only way to get rid of it is to write it.
Q—Are you still taking dance classes?
Yes. And I’m still terrible at it. Our end of year concert is in two weeks, so stay tuned for a gif or two 🙂
Q—What happened to King Jayr’s sister, Princess Tasia?
Good question. I am considering writing her story at some point. I don’t know whether it will be a free short for subscribers or a full length novel. It will likely be set in Asigow so we can learn more about them.
Q—I LOVED The Zoelin Queen. Is there going to be another Cora book?
The answer was always no, but I’ve had so many emails and messages from readers who loved the free short, my resolve is wavering. The funny thing is, I wasn’t sure my readers would like it. I wrote it to appease my own curiosity. I wanted to see inside their marriage and get inside their heads. I actually adore Cora despite her vile nature. Turns out you do too.
Q—Does Mako become accepted into the royal family as legitimate and labelled a prince?
Yes, he’s absolutely a prince and recognised as such. Having said that, he’s not being raised in a castle and living like a typical Prince of Syrasan, but that’s more to do with Aldara’s preference for a simple life, and Tyron’s desire to keep his wife happy.
Q—Will there be another book featuring Tyron and Aldara in the future?
Probably not. There would have to be a really good reason for me to upset the peace and happiness they’ve earned. That said, you just never know. I don’t have any plans (or even ideas) at this stage.
Q—I was wondering whether the accents of each kingdom are somewhat familiar to any found in the real world?
I have to say, this is probably the best question I’ve ever received. I absolutely get this from a reader perspective. I definitely have accents in mind when I’m writing. Keeping in mind the languages are unique to that world, this is (kind of) how I hear them.
Syrasan – English
Corneon – English with a very subtle French accent (they were once the same kingdom remember)
Galen – Swedish
Zoelin – Even though they live like Highlanders in my mind, their language sounds closer to Turkish.
Braul – English with a heavy Scottish accent
Asigow – Spanish
Q—Do you have an advance reader group?
Yes, I have an awesome group of 60 readers who get my new releases a few weeks before they go live. Their support and honest reviews are much appreciated. If you are genuinely interested in joining, then just shoot me an email (tanya@tanyabird.com).
Q—Can I get your books from the library?
I’m not a household name. No one knows who I am. There is not a librarian on this planet who has heard of me. BUT, if you request my books, your library can get them in for you. You won’t find them via browsing, so you will need to ask for them. This is a great way to read or listen for free.
Hopefully your question was answered above. If not, feel free to ask it below.
I absolutely love your emails! There are very few emails that I read from start to finish (not even bill related)! You never fail to make me laugh and get me excited for new material! Also The Zoelin Queen was an amazing story and I would love for you to take my money so I could read more of it! Please please please write more of Cora and Jayr’s story!
That’s such lovely feedback! “Take my money” hahahaha. As soon as I have the Roman Hearts series wrapped up, I’ll make firmer plans for The Companion series. Stay tuned.
I have tried and tried to download The Zoelin Queen and have never been able to get it. I got it once but it disappeared. Is there some reason why? I really want this book. Thank you. I love your books.
Thanks
Jackie
Hmmm, that’s very weird. Do you mind shooting me an email (tanya@tanyabird.com)? We’ll try again!
Thanks for taking the time to answer all of these! My favorite was the accents!
You’re very welcome Carol. I thought that was a great question too.
You have no idea how HAPPY I am that I came across your books! (The Companion Series to be exact) They are AMAZING!!!!!!! I got lost in each story and you told each one so well. (That statement does not give it justice.) I saw everything in my head like a movie!! That’s one of the reasons I know it’s a great story because I can see it in my mind. You gave each character so much depth and personality, even the antagonists. TBH I would totally buy more books about Tyron and Aldara just to stay with them lol to see how they live day to day. How their children grow up, etc. I would absolutely LOVE to read more about Leksi and Petra, their story was heartbreakingly beautiful. On another note, I really hope you continue with King Jayr and Queen Cora’s story. I personally feel that there is still so much to be said, much that can change, IDK but you know. 😉 Nonetheless, THANK YOU for sharing these WONDERFUL stories!!! Keep sharing!! <3
Awww, thank you. So glad you’re enjoying the series so far. I look forward to bring you more stories in 2019 🙂
I just started reading your books and I could not put them down! I’ve gone through all of the Companion Serise and Gladiators Oath all in a matter of 2 weeks! I can’t wait to read more. I’ll have to put in that I am also interested in hearing more of Cora and Jayr’s story, I know they found more common ground at the end of the novella but it would be interesting to see something happen between them to make Jayr more devoted to Cora, change his ways while still challenging each other.
That is some very fast reading Jenn! So glad you found my books. I’m confident it won’t be the last we hear from Cora. Stay tuned 🙂
I enjoyed reading “The Companion” books so much, the characters seem so alive. I would love to see more books and for Cora and Jayr seem like they are both coming to terms with the marriage but the culture of Zoelin is so different. I like the FAQ part it answer all but one of my questions. It doesn’t make sense why does Cora and her mother Eldoris that the Companions so much. I understand that you wouldn’t want to share your husbands attention but the Companion Practice is part of their culture, both are people of power and neither try to change to stop the taking of Companions. The Companions are sold into their lot by their families or perhaps even born into it.
Hi Barbara, glad you enjoyed the FAQs. To answer your question why Cora and Eldoris don’t try to bring an end to the Companion tradition, they object to it in the ways they can. Cora is perhaps more resigned to the fact their world is very a man’s world, and is probably too self-absorbed, too lost in her own woes, to act on behalf on the women she misunderstands. She essentially views them as them as gold diggers. Eldoris acts in subtle ways. She tries to educate her sons to think differently, but as Queen (and being Galen), she’s expected to embrace Syrasan culture and their traditions. In other words, it’s complicated.
I stumbled upon the Companion Series about two years ago and read the first three books quickly. About a month ago I decided to reread (that’s how you know I LOVE a series) and then discovered you had come out with more! Man was I excited!! I have now read every book available including the “A Gladiators Oath” and the shorts! I am in love with all of your books and can not wait for more!! I love all of the characters you have brought to life. I would love to see more into Prince Stamitos and Sapphira’s story!!
That’s awesome Tiffany. Stamitos and Sapphira will be making an appearance in one of the books I have planned, so stay tuned 🙂 I look forward to bringing you more stories this year.
As the other have mentioned…I too have stumbled upon your amazing book series and writing style! You know a book really touches you when you still think about it even after you are (sadly) finished with it. Some call it a book “hangover”, but I think it’s because the writing, storyline, and characters were so well written that we just don’t want to part with them.
I am so happy to have been able to read your work. I also want to admire the fact that your writing is so strong that you didn’t need to write the explicit sex scenes. Your writing carried your stories. Unfortunately, that’s where I find most books fail. You are also not afraid to write about difficult subject matters head. You have done this with enough detail and respect that the reader doesn’t feel too exposed and it doesn’t take away from the story. BRAVO!
And now finally my question which has a few possible spoilers so stop reading if you haven’t read the books. I don’t want to ruin it for anyone………………………….
You touched on the subject a little but did the late king recognize Aldara since she is the spitting image of her mother? Was Queen Eldoris married to the King at the time he had is “special Companion”. If so, did that change how he treated Aldara in any way?
So glad you found my books and enjoyed them so much. In answer to your questions…
***spoilers below***
If there was something familiar about Aldara I doubt King Zenas would have been able to make the connection. So many years had passed, and Dahlia was at the castle such a short time. The King took his first Companion shortly after Pandarus was born, so Dahlia would have definitely been one of his earlier Companions. Great questions 🙂
